A estas alturas a todos nos suena que el Aloe Vera tiene muchas propiedades beneficiosas para nuestro organismo, pero si preguntamos para qué partes del organismo la mayoría responderá que para el cuidado de la piel o el sistema digestivo.
Pero los beneficios del Aloe Vera van más allá que los meramente cosméticos. En el presente artículo vamos a centrarnos en los beneficios que el Aloe Vera puede aportar a nuestras defensas.
¿Bebida de Aloe Vera?
Lo primero que debemos tener claro es que el Aloe Vera se viene utilizando como planta medicinal desde hace mucho tiempo; ya los griegos le atribuían beneficios digestivos y curativos.
En los últimos tiempos las empresas de cosméticos han explotado las propiedades de este vegetal para la salud de la piel, por ello los formatos más extendidos son en crema o gel. Para otro tipo de usos, como el que nos ocupa, se utiliza en formato líquido.
Propiedades para el sistema inmunológico
El Aloe Barbadensis Miller contribuye a la mejora del sistema inmunitario y lo hace desde diferentes frentes ya que se le atribuyen propiedades inmunomoduladoras, capacidad antiviral, antifúngica y antibacteriana.
Propiedad inmunomoduladora: el acemanano es una sustancia activa presente en el Aloe Vera que estimula la función fagocítica de los macrófagos de nuestro organismo. Los macrófagos son un tipo de glóbulo blanco que destruye todo microorganismo extraño.
Capacidad antiviral: relacionado con lo anterior, el acemanano parece que, además de “activar” a los macrófagos estimula la formación de éstos así como la de leucocitos.
Capacidad antifúngica y antibacteriana: Ayuda a controlar las infecciones del sistema digestivo, entre ellas a la bacteria Helicobacter pylori causante de la úlcera duodenal.
Contraindicaciones del Aloe Vera
En la planta de Aloe diferenciamos dos componentes, el acíbar y el gel; el acíbar se encuentra en los filamentos de las mismas, tiene un color amarillento y un potente sabor amargo, derivado de uno de sus principios activos, la aloína.
Por otro lado tenemos el gel, obtenido de la pulpa del interior de las hojas y del que se obtiene un jugo de aspecto pegajoso, insípido y transparente.El gel de Aloe está constituido por agua, polisacáridos, vitaminas y minerales.
El acíbar se usa como laxante pero hay que tener cuidado ya que dicha sustancia puede ser perjudicial para la salud si se toma en grandes cantidades. La aloína puede resultar tóxica y producir diarreas así como dolor abdominal.
En conclusión
Aloes hay de muchos tipos (existen unas 500 especies distintas) pero para usos medicinales y cosméticos la más utilizada es la Aloe Barbadensis Milller, como el que utiliza Visalvit Aloe.
El Aloe puede ser un gran refuerzo para nuestras defensas puesto que estimula la formación de macrófagos y leucocitos e induce la función fagocitaria de los macrófagos.
